Soy wax container recipe with vanilla dessert fragrance

Table of contents

What you will need

  • AGNI glass 180 ml (recommended net fill ~150–170 g wax)
  • Soy wax Kerasoy 4130 – 350 g (enough for ~2 such glasses)
  • Cream colorant – 1 g
  • Fragrance oil “Vanilla Dessert” – 5 ml
  • Stabilo 14 wick with metal sustainer
  • Thermometer
  • Double-boiler pot/pan (water bath)
  • Heat-resistant melting pitcher
  • Wick sticker (double-sided)
  • Wick holder/centering tool
  • Paper towel/alcohol wipes for degreasing the glass

Step by step

  1. Degrease the inside with alcohol and let it dry.
  2. Preheat the glass (with a heat gun or in an ~50 °C oven for 5–10 min) to improve wax adhesion and reduce “wet spots.”
  3. Put the wax in a bowl and heat it in a water bath, slowly bringing it to ~80 °C. Do not heat directly over an open flame.
  4. Once fully melted, do not overheat (above 85 °C increases risks for color/fixation). Add the cream colorant and stir thoroughly until the tone is uniform.
  5. Let the wax cool to ~70 °C. Add the fragrance and stir for 2 minutes to ensure even dispersion.
  6. With a double-sided sticker, adhere the wick tab to the center of the glass base.
  7. Use a wick holder (wood/metal) so the wick stays upright and centered.
  8. Pour when the wax is ~62–66 °C (65 °C recommended).
  9. Pour slowly to minimize air bubbles. Do not fill the glass all the way to the top.
  10. Allow to cure for 72 h before burning (soy needs “curing” for the scent to develop).

Safety (mandatory!)

Do not melt wax over direct flame. Always use a water bath.

Do not leave unattended.

Work in a well-ventilated area; keep away from children/pets.

While burning: place on a flat, heat-resistant surface; do not move a lit candle; do not burn down to the very bottom—leave ~5–10 mm of wax.

To verify that everything works, we ourselves made the candle using this recipe three times. It has always turned out well. May it go well for you too!
